Top 10 charge for Sauber Junior Team F2 duo in Austria

The Sauber Junior Team’s F2 squad claimed a double top 10 finish during the FIA Formula 2 Championship Sprint Race in Austria on Sunday.

Building on experience gained during Saturday’s challenging Feature Race, the team’s talented youngsters Juan Manuel Correa and Callum Ilott both rounded off the weekend positively.

Alfa Romeo F1 Development Driver Juan Manuel lined up P11 for today’s 28-lap encounter and worked his way forward to challenge for points. The American showed tenacity in a closely-contested train of cars to cross the line in P10.

Callum, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, started from P14 but suffered misfortune on the opening lap when he was involved in a collision with a rival.

Austria turns up the heat on Sauber Junior Team F2 duo

The Sauber Junior Team’s FIA Formula 2 Championship squad endured a challenging encounter in extremely hot conditions during the Feature Race in Spielberg, Austria today.

Alfa Romeo F1 Development Driver Juan Manuel Correa and Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott arrived at the Red Bull Ring off the back of an encouraging podium-winning display in France last weekend.

Callum lined up from P10 on the grid while Juan Manuel took the starting lights from P13 in his Sauber Junior Team by Charouz car.

Callum worked his way forwards to challenge for the points but as the track temperature rose to 49°C, excessive tyre wear left the Briton on the back foot, and he classified in P14.
