Sauber Junior Team
“We're looking forward to taking some exceptional drivers on track in 2019.”
The Sauber Junior Team is determined to make its mark in the FIA Formula 2 Championship during 2019.
The season is long and tough, with 12 rounds and 24 races to contest. But with a talented driver line up on the track and an experienced team of race-winning F2 engineers behind the scenes, we’re in fantastic shape.
With the support of Sauber Motorsport and Charouz Racing System, Callum Ilott and Juan Manuel Correa are pushing to set the F2 pace and put on an exciting show at each Grand Prix weekend.
The highly-rated Briton has been part of Ferrari’s Driver Academy since the start of 2018. After a title-challenging GP3 campaign that season, he graduates to Formula 2 with the Sauber Junior Team in 2019.
With a glittering karting career behind him, Callum moved directly into the Formula 3 category at the age of 16 and immediately caught the eye. He battled for the 2017 European title with six wins, and in 2018 placed third in an ultra-competitive GP3 season.
The highly-rated American is one of the youngest drivers on the F2 grid – but gets his F2 chance after impressing during the category’s post-season Abu Dhabi test in 2018.
A karting champion in his homeland, Juan Manuel has a wealth of experience in various single-seater categories and is an F4 and Toyota Racing Series race winner. He graduates to F2 on the back of a solid GP3 season in 2018.
