Top six result for Sauber Junior Team on Macau Grand Prix debut

Sauber Junior Team by Charouz made a successful first appearance at the iconic Macau Grand Prix this weekend, with Callum Ilott heading the team’s drivers home in P6.

The non-championship event capped the squad’s rookie season in the FIA Formula 3 category. It ran three Xiaomi-backed cars for Callum, David Schumacher and Enzo Fittipaldi around the tricky, wall-lined 6km Guia Circuit.

Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum stepped into the F3/19 car for the first time on Thursday, having spent 2019 competing for the driver development squad in the F2 category.

The Briton emerged as a front-runner throughout the weekend, setting the third-best time in qualifying before securing P5 during Saturday’s Qualification Race.
