F2 podium prize for Sauber Junior Team in France

The Sauber Junior Team made a return to the FIA Formula 2 Championship podium during the Circuit Paul Ricard Sprint Race today, picking up more silverware in its rookie campaign.

Alfa Romeo F1 Development Driver Juan Manuel Correa and Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott both impressed as they finished P2 and P8 respectively during the 21-lap encounter.

Juan Manuel started from the front-row of the grid in P2 after his stirring recovery from P12 to P7 during Saturday’s Feature Race.

The American suffered wheelspin and fell to P4 when the start lights were extinguished, but he quickly passed title challengers Nicholas Latifi and Jack Aitken to re-claim P2.

More F2 points for Sauber Junior Team in France

The Sauber Junior Team added to its FIA Formula 2 Championship points tally after putting on a competitive display during the Feature Race at Paul Ricard in France today (Saturday).

The driver development squad is a collaboration between Sauber Motorsport and Charouz Racing System. Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott and Alfa Romeo F1 Development Driver Juan Manuel Correa represent the team in the F2 category.

Both drivers arrived at the home of the French Grand Prix in a positive frame of mind after showing impressive speed at recent events.

Juan Manuel started the 30-lap Feature Race from P12 on the alternative tyre strategy and ran for much of the race in P2 before dropping back after he had to complete his mandatory pit stop...

It was fantastic to see both of our cars being driven so competitively today and really pushing for the top places
