Sauber Junior Team on the F2 podium again in Spain

The Sauber Junior Team claimed its second FIA Formula 2 Championship podium finish in as many events during the Sprint Race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today.

The driver development squad, a collaboration between Alfa Romeo Racing F1 operators Sauber Motorsport and Charouz Racing System, scored its maiden F2 podium last month in Azerbaijan when Juan Manuel Correa finished P2 in the Sprint Race.

In Spain earlier today, it was Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott’s turn to climb on to the podium and celebrate in front of the Spanish Grand Prix crowds.

The Briton started from pole position after finishing P8 in a frantic finish to Saturday’s Feature Race, and he was in the thick of the action through a fierce opening...

Sauber Junior Team win more F2 points in Spain

The Sauber Junior Team added to its FIA Formula 2 Championship points tally during the closely-fought Feature Race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Saturday.

Sauber Junior Team was launched for 2019 by Sauber Motorsport – the organisation that runs Alfa Romeo Racing in F1 – and is a joint driver development programme that is being delivered in collaboration with Charouz Racing System.

Following on from Sauber Junior Team by Charouz’s maiden Formula 2 podium in Azerbaijan last month, Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott impressed as he collected P8 and four points in Saturday’s 37-lap race.

The Briton was in the thick of the front-running action and held P6 for much of the race on the 4.65km circuit, only to lose...
