Sauber Junior Team by Charouz is delighted to continue its successful collaboration with Xiaomi at the upcoming Macau Grand Prix event (14-17 November).

The Chinese technology brand – which markets mobile devices and other smart products – joined forces with the driver development squad at the beginning of 2019 and has been an integral supporter during the FIA F2, F3 and ADAC F4 championship season as it unfolded.

The Xiaomi brand has proudly adorned the cars that have won the F4 drivers’ title with Théo Pourchaire and also topped the teams’ standings with the support of fellow drivers Arthur Leclerc, rising Czech star Roman Stanek, and Frenchman Alessandro Ghiretti.

And success has also been forthcoming when the Sauber Junior Team by Charouz F2 and F3 cars have been racing as major support championships to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The team’s drivers qualified on pole, led races and scored points during the their rookie F3 campaign, while Ferrari Driver Academy member Callum Ilott and Alfa Romeo Racing Development Driver Juan Manuel Correa have scored four podiums between them during the debut seasons in F2 – an impressive feat.

And the squad’s bid for success during 2019 isn’t over yet. With the support of Xiaomi, it will field three drivers at the annual Macau Grand Prix – a hugely prestigious street race that is contested by the 30-best F3 drivers in the world.

Callum Ilott will spearhead the attack and will be joined by David Schumacher (son of six-time F1 winner Ralf) and Enzo Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time F1 world champion Emerson and the brother of Pietro who Charouz Racing System engineered to the Formula V8 3.5 title in 2017.

Xiaomi is currently making strong progress in its development as the number two brand in the Czech mobile device market and Sauber Junior Team by Charouz is hopeful that further high-profile success in Macau next month will help the brand’s bid to become number one in the Czech market.

Charouz Racing System owner, Antonin Charouz, said: “Our collaboration with Xiaomi has been a big success from the beginning and I’m delighted that we can count such a successful global brand as one of our loyal supporters.

“With its close proximity to China, Macau is going to be an important event for Xiaomi and us as a racing team. We’ll be pushing hard to bring even more success to our 2019 campaign and to further illustrate what can be achieved when two talented and determined companies join forces.”
